What is the 319 Residential Grant program?
The 319 Grant will be used to help make property and road improvements within the Georges Pond watershed between 2020-21. It was awarded to the GPA by the Maine DEP and the US EPA.
Why is this important?
Stormwater runoff into Georges Pond, from properties and roads, is a major factor in how phosphorus gets added into the water each year. When there is too much phosphorus in the pond, we get algae blooms.
Property owners wishing to minimize stormwater runoff from going into the pond, can apply directly to the GPA for small monetary grants to help offset the cost of improvements to their residential property.
All property owners on Georges Pond are welcome to apply, but priority will be given to residential properties with NPS (non-point source) issues.
How you can help
